MARSELISBORG HAVN - PORT DE PLAISANCE
Situated below Marselisborg castle hill, this marina was created when the port of Aarhus was extended in the early 90s. A large amount of land was added, giving rise to the Tangkrogen lagoon. It's a popular bathing spot for local residents, who occupy the pretty mansion-like properties (white facades, black glazed tiles, hydrangea hedges) that stretch out across the bay.
The port is home to a variety of restaurants and cafés lining the quayside:
- Seafood offers a menu of quality fish and shellfish.
- Martino mixes Italian and Danish cuisine. Fish rubs shoulders with pasta and pizza.
- NorR focuses on Nordic flavors combined with Danish style, offering both light and hearty dishes.
- Our favorite is Bådcafé, a café-restaurant with pontoon and terrace, built on the former 1950 ferry Endelave (open daily in summer). The menu is small but high quality and extra tasty! Lots of charm.
- Another smart address, Kaj Kiosk, occupies one of the little black wooden chalets. A grocery corner, a gourmet corner with cardamom roll and breakfast coffees!
And then there's Eske Touborg's workshop. He is one of Denmark's leading street artists. It's from this nautical haven that he finds inspiration for his paintings and manages his street art and book publishing projects.
