OLD TOWN HALL (DET GAMLE RÅDHUS)
Denmark's smallest town hall, built in 1576, is now a museum where you can see the prison pit and photos of the inmates
The smallest town hall in Denmark, built in 1576. A tower was added in 1789, with a bell to rival that of the church. In 1840, it became too small and was used as a guardhouse for night watchmen. Since 1909, it is a museum. Curiosity: you can go down into the pit used as a prison, some rusty chains and a skull have been placed there... To see: the enlargements of anthropometric photos of those who passed through this dungeon in the 19th century.
