TOWN HALL (RÅDHUS)
Baroque town hall built in 1762 by master builder Daniel Popp, on the ruins of an earlier building.
Built in 1762 by the master builder Daniel Popp, on the ruins of the old building destroyed in 1757, this baroque town hall was modelled on that of Johan Conrad Ernst in Copenhagen, which was later completely destroyed in the fire of 1795. It was in use until 1912, but nowadays it is only used for certain official ceremonies and weddings. In 1970, the municipality of Aalborg merged with 12 other municipalities. Council meetings are now held in the Civic Centre.
