SÆBY CHURCH (SÆBY KIRKE)
Church in Sæby with white steeple, featuring scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
At the end of Algade stands the white bell tower of the former Carmelite convent in Sæby, which was demolished when the Reformation was introduced in Denmark. Only the church remains standing. Inside, the vaults are richly decorated with frescoes from the late Middle Ages, rediscovered in 1905 during restoration work. Scenes from the Old and New Testaments. To see: a pulpit of the XVIth century, wooden stalls, a Virgin with the Child, radiant of sun, the moon at her feet.
