DYBBØL MILL (DYBBØL MØLLE)
Mound-top mill housing a museum of Danish soldiers' resistance to the Austro-Prussian armies of 1864.
A place of memory and history. On top of a mound stands proudly the Dybbøl mill, very close to the battlefield of the siege of Sønderborg. It houses a museum of the resistance of Danish soldiers against the Austro-Prussian armies in 1864. The peace signed in Vienna that year was a heavy loss for the kingdom. In addition to the destruction and the high death toll, Denmark had to resign itself to losing one third of its territory and two fifths of its population.
