A Viking farmhouse once included a 20 m-long hall with a hearth and earthen benches along the walls.
Discovered in 1942, it is a typical example of a Viking farmhouse, although only the foundations are visible today. This farmhouse consisted of a room more than 20 m long, with a hearth in its center and earthen benches along the walls. The roof was supported by wooden posts, the locations of which can still be seen on the ground. Not far away, another building served as a stable. Twelve cows could fit in it. Archaeologists have found fragments of kitchen utensils and wooden toys, now on display in the National Museum in Tórshavn.
