CHURCH (KIRKJA)
A small traditional church in Saksun, timeless yet in harmony with the surrounding nature.
It is difficult to find a more beautiful place, both timeless and in harmony with the surrounding nature. A dry stone fence, a gate, white walls and a roof covered with grass: this small traditional church stands out from the greenery thanks to its bell tower and its cross visible from afar. The date of 1858 inscribed at the entrance does not correspond to its construction, but to its removal. It was actually built in 1693 in Tjørnuvík and transported over the mountains in pieces to Saksun in the mid-19th century!
