Site in Tjørnuvík featuring a cemetery and the foundations of a Viking house with several rooms.
It was in 1956 that the first excavations were conducted. The remains of twelve people were found in a cemetery under the sand near the beach and near an old track leading to the nearby village. Some of the bodies were lying completely on their backs, others were lying on their left sides with their knees bent, and all had their heads facing north. Recent excavations have uncovered the foundations of a Viking house with several rooms under a house built in 1936 (4.5 m have been excavated).
