WAR MUSEUM
Museum built by the British in the 1940s, featuring photos and articles on the history of the Faroes.
This museum is housed in a former blockhouse, built by the British in the 1940s to counter Nazi attacks. It tells, through photos and articles, the history of the Faroes during the Second World War. The occupation by the British troops will upset the life of the archipelago. The airport dates from this period. For the first time, a national flag flew over the East Faroes and would never come down again. The English culture is still present today, English words are common in everyday life.
