SØLTUVIK
This deserted bay has a beautiful beach covered with large pebbles, and was home to people in the 900s.
A small road towards the west coast leads to this place: it is a deserted but very beautiful bay whose beach is covered with large pebbles. We arrive there in one hour, without effort, in a very pleasant frame, and completely different from the mountainous ways of the rest of the archipelago. Here everything seems almost at sea level! In all likelihood, people lived in Søltuvík in the 900s. Excavations have found building debris and objects. Carbon-14 dating of two burnt barley grains shows that they date back to the 10th century.
