SIEGE D'ALDAR

Located on an elevated peninsula with spectacular views of the city and the sea, it is the first circular building in Arabia. Thanks to its innovative balloon-like design, its visual impact in the colors of Manchester City, the emirate's sponsored soccer club, and its functionality as well, the 23-story, 110-meter-high structure was named one of the world's most dazzling corporate offices by the international building organization, Emporis. It also received the award for best futuristic design. Designed by MZ Architects, the semi-spherical building consists of two circular, convex facades connected by a narrow band of notched glazing. This glazed structure is fully circular in elevation and curved in all other directions. The project was developed in accordance with the US Green Building Council's LEED rating system. It is one of the first official environmentally friendly buildings in Abu Dhabi, using recyclable materials such as steel, concrete and glass. It also includes a district cooling system and efficient lighting and water systems. The building maximizes natural light, with meeting spaces and offices distributed around the perimeter of each floor. A first-of-its-kind automated underground vacuum waste collection system is also integrated to reuse all of the building's waste, with the system sucking waste directly to a recycling station
