QASR AL WATAN
The presidential palace with a beautiful "sound and light" show just after sunset.
At the end of the corniche, next to the Emirates Palace, here are several impressive palaces commissioned by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, president of the United Arab Emirates and son of Sheikh Zayed, founding father of the country. None of these palaces built between 2010 and 2017 are inhabited. One is reserved for the President of the UAE, another for the Crown Prince, the third for the Prime Minister and the last for official visits. It is this palace with its library, which opened its doors to the public on March 11, 2019. After taking the tickets, you will be invited to board a bus to get there. A huge marble hall in the center gives access to smaller rooms on the sides: they house exhibits on different themes such as the library, medicine, and gifts given to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al Nathan by visiting heads of state. With its domes and domes, its marble with a thousand colors, this building looks like a mosque, a cathedral, a palace of a thousand and one nights. It is absolutely grandiose; to visit to get an idea of the Arab ornamental decoration! At the end of the visit, you will find a small cafeteria and a souvenir store rather well supplied, with notably very beautiful postcards. Discovering the gardens is also interesting. We recommend a visit at sunset to see the fabulous sound and light show on the palace facades. You can also book a guided architectural tour.
