This square, built to celebrate the creation of the United Arab Emirates, represents several symbols of Emirati hospitality.
This square was built to celebrate the creation of the United Arab Emirates - in the local language etihad means "union". Several symbols of Emirati hospitality are represented here: the makkabah is a conical cover made of woven palm leaves. The mabakhir is used to burn incense and is offered to each visitor on departure. The gülabdan is a sprinkler containing rosewater, a few drops of which are poured over the hands of those who have just finished their meal. The dallah is a coffee pot with a long spout.
