This magnificent construction site is one of the last in the Emirates. Ancestral methods are still used to build traditional dhows that have been built for hundreds of years. The craftsmen have acquired a reputation over the ages for being very skilled. Shipbuilding and the pearling industry were the two engines of the economy of the emirates located on the coast before the discovery of oil. Today, they also build fiberglass boats.
