This island is renowned for its archaeological treasures. It is here that, during the first excavations, the remains of an important city of two thousand years were discovered. It was located not far from the present Umm al-Quwaïn. Archaeologists have uncovered graves, remains of stone houses, but also pots and glass items from Egypt and Syria.
