MASAFI FORT
Fort built to defend the resources of the Wadi, where a Japanese team discovered the remains of a falaj.
Masafi Fort is located in this charming little village at the entrance to Wadi Ham and split in two between the Emirates of Fujairah and RAK. Occupied since the Bronze Age, that is to say for more than 4,500 years, Masafi has always been a strategic passage. It is also where a first fort was built in 1450 to defend the resources of the Wadi and below which, a Japanese team discovered the remains of a falaj (irrigation system that allows water to be transported from a mountain to the valley) 3,000 years old.
