FORMER CFCI COMPANY
Superb building formerly housing the Compagnie française de Côte d'Ivoire, then an art gallery and creative space for associations
This superb building, once home to the Compagnie française de Côte d'Ivoire, founded in 1905 on the foundations of Verdier's Compagnie de Kong, has long remained in excellent condition. Jean-Jacques Shnegg, a Swiss graphic designer, converted it into an art gallery and a creative space for associations, but today its hermetically sealed shutters and once lush, overgrown garden inspire mixed feelings among the people of Bassam, some of whom go so far as to say that it's not a good idea to walk too close to the abandoned building at night.
