THE GREAT MOSQUE
An emblematic former mosque from the late century, home to numerous worshippers of different ethnicities and nationalities.
Emblematic building of the religious Bouaké, "capital of cosmopolitan and peaceful Islam", the Great Mosque is the oldest in the city. A building of great beauty from the end of the 19th century with its ogive openings and stylized claustras, it welcomes numerous worshippers of different ethnicities and nationalities from Northern Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Guinea. It is administered by the 9th Grand Imam of Bouaké, El Hadj Touré Bajawari, deeply committed to "understanding between Muslims and with other believers".
