THE OLD MARKET
A former market typical of colonial architecture, now home to a library and a number of cultural associations.
The old market of the city is a typical example of colonial architecture inspired by the Sudanese style, built between 1930 and 1940. The market was relocated in 1989 and the building was transformed into the museum of abron-koulango arts and traditions. Today, its pink walls house a library and some cultural associations. The museum used to collect handicrafts from the ethnic groups of the region. Nowadays, only a few murals representing the great Abron kings and their court, content the glorious past of the city.
