Pekoran's 18th-century Pesisir architecture is a blend of Chinese and European influences. The fish market, opened in 1920, closed in 1975. Visits to the mosque and fish market take you through poor neighborhoods where the focus is on visitors. These places are marked by colorful crowds and a fish market now devoid of fish.
