KESEPUHAN KRATON
A palace with a museum displaying fine antiques, including kriss and armor, it is also the residence of the Sultan of Kesepuhan.
Of the four palaces in Cirebon, this one, dating from 1527 and currently inhabited by the Sultan of Kesepuhan, is particularly well preserved. In a style marked by Sundanese, Javanese and Chinese influences, the palace also features some European decorative elements, such as the French chandeliers on the ceiling of the inner pavilion and the blue-and-white Delft tiles. The palace museum, obscure and dilapidated, exhibits some fine antiques, including kriss, Javanese puppets, armor and an extraordinary 17th-century carriage.
