GEREJA AYAM (EGLISE POULET)
An authentic church to visit in Borobudur, a place of worship in the shape of a dove, a curiosity imagined by Daniel Alamsjah.
Let's face it: it's unlikely that you've considered visiting a chicken-shaped church during your stay in Indonesia, or even in your lifetime. This fascinating curiosity came about thanks to the vision of Daniel Alamsjah, who one day, in his Jakarta apartment, was inspired to build a place of worship in the shape of a dove. In 1990, the building opened its doors to the faithful and also served as a rehabilitation center (now closed). A real nugget.
