MAISON DE SAMPOERNA
Tobacco Museum, located in the heart of the Sampoerna cigarette company headquarters, to find out more about cigarettes.
One of Surabaya's must-sees. Erected in the heart of the Sampoerna cigarette company headquarters, this tobacco museum is housed in a Dutch colonial-style building dating back to 1858. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the process of packaging cigarettes, particularly kretek, or clove cigarettes. Here, 3,900 women put their dexterity to work to make cigarettes by hand, using traditional equipment and reaching a rate of over 325 sticks per hour.
