FORT ROTTERDAM
Fortress, a fine example of Dutch colonial architecture, with a museum displaying weapons, handicrafts, etc.
This fortress, one of the finest examples of Dutch colonial architecture, was built on the walls of a Portuguese fortress, itself built on the ruins of a fort belonging to the Sultan of Gowa. Completed in 1666, the complex comprises 13 buildings: 11 were restored by the Dutch, then 2 by the Japanese during the war. There are 2 museums, including the Galligo. Here you'll find handicrafts, weapons and everyday objects from the Bugi civilization and the court of the Sultan of Gowa. The historical museum is also very interesting.
