From Medan, take the bus in town (ask your hotel) or at Pinang Baris station. Allow 2 hours and a half by car in a spectacular landscape.

From Lake Toba, buses leave Pangururan via Sidikalang and Kabanjahe (the latter is about 15 minutes from Berastagi).

There are also buses from Berastagi to Kutacane (wilder access to Gunung Leuser National Park), 5 hours drive.

Once in the city, to get around, take a bemo on the main street. Or take a sado ride (horse-drawn cart).

For Medan. Take the "Sinabung Jaya" or "Aronta" buses from the city centre terminal (left of Losmen Sibayak).

For Bukit Lawang. Mandatory transit to Medan. From Medan, from the Pinang Baris terminal, the "Pembangunan Semesta" buses make the direct journey. Otherwise, we have to stop in Binjai. For the Brastaggi - Bukit Lawang trip, allow 6 hours.
