SIMANINDO VILLAGE
Fortified village to visit by Tuk-Tuk, with a museum that was the home of the Batak king Rajah Simalungun.
Located on the northern tip of the island, this village is also fortified. The gate is just wide enough for a buffalo to pass through, and just high enough for a woman with a basket on her head to pass through.
The museum was the home of the Batak king Rajah Simalungun. It is by far the most beautiful on the island. It contains a few unpretentious museographic objects. The horns on the façade are said to represent the generations. Off the coast, Tao Island is home to a hotel offering water-skiing and boat hire.
