Benin's Marché des Arts (formerly the Centre de Promotion de l'Artisanat), located along the railway tracks opposite the Bourse du Travail.

After being forced to leave their historic site (what a pity!) in the summer of 2022, the artisans of the Centre de Promotion de l'Artisanat have gradually taken up residence along the rails opposite the Bourse du Travail, a few dozen meters in the direction of Camp Ghezo. Booth after booth, you'll find just about every kind of Beninese handicraft: masks, leather goods, appliquéd fabrics, pottery, gourds, jewelry, bags, stationery, etc. - enough to slip a few souvenirs into your suitcase!

Plus de 50 échoppes proposant toutes la même chose : objets en bois, batiks, bijoux... Et aucun touriste! Donc, on s'est fait harceler pour acheter!

You will really! The centre is like a small village with a lively atmosphere. Naturally merchants can be done pressing a little and it is in any case to strongly bargain. I have to go with Beninese friends who have to help me much so that I almost bought all small some things at a good price, even a bongo playing and all the small percussion instruments with for me, although normally prices tendet with being excessive.
If you do not want to waste time everywhere by looking for gifts, the centre is the place to go.
