COLONIAL AND AFRO-BRAZILIAN ARCHITECTURE
Several buildings of Afro-Brazilian architecture are worth a visit, built by freed slaves who returned to their homeland
The old city of Ouidah still has some buildings, unfortunately often in poor condition, illustrating its colonial and commercial past. These include merchants' houses and trading posts. The freed slaves who returned to the country also built several buildings of Afro-Brazilian architecture, including the House of Brazil located in the Ajido or Brazil quarter. Don't hesitate to look up during a stroll through the city!
