THE HOUSE OF MEMORY
Former residence of the Brazilian governor, featuring a permanent exhibition of contemporary African art
Formerly the residence of the Brazilian governor and then of a Portuguese family, the Casa do Brazil was originally named for its collection of Brazilian art. At the entrance, you will find the two guides. The permanent exhibition, entitled "Et si Ouidah m'était conté..." (And if Ouidah were told to me...), presents contemporary African art objects, which rub shoulders with unusual traditional costumes, Vodun cult objects and numerous pieces of the history of the slave trade, which was exhibited here during the time of the work in the Portuguese Fort.
