Here's a lively market every Saturday. Located right in the center, it's Parakou's big market, which is partly covered. Here you'll find almost all local and regional products, as well as handicrafts. Don't miss the pottery and painted calabashes, with their elaborate motifs. A good souvenir idea to pack in your suitcase. Don't forget to haggle over the price of your purchases, even if the saleswomen don't always speak French. Alternatively, a large livestock market is held every five days to the north of the town.
