Christmas begins long before December 25, with typical Swedish customs and traditions that transform the city.
The streets of Stockholm are transformed as soon as the month of December appears, and even much earlier. Christmas is a major festivity for Swedes, with unique customs. You will see Stockholm light up as the days grow darker. Candles and stars light up every window, Stockholm becomes a giant Christmas tree. This is where the Christmas markets open, in a multitude of squares, including Stortorget, where you will find all the best Swedish delicacies and good mulled wine, called glögg.
