Riddarholmskyrkan is Stockholm's only surviving medieval church. It houses the tombs of the kings of Sweden. Gustav II Adolf, Charles XII, Charles XIV Jean, Gustav V and their wives are buried here. Also on display are the coats of arms of the knights of the Royal Order of the Seraph, which line part of the building's walls. The church, originally a Franciscan monastery, was built in 1280. Its bell tower overlooks the island of Riddarholmen.
