Falun, located in the Dalarna region, is an attractive tourist destination. The Falun World Heritage Site includes not only the mine itself, but also the surrounding countryside, the town with its historic red-painted buildings and the rural mining districts. There's plenty for the whole family to discover here. The lively town center of Dalarna's capital is packed with boutiques, cozy cafés and restaurants. Carl Larsson's colorful house in Sundborn is a popular tourist destination and a source of inspiration. Daily tours allow visitors to learn more about the world-famous artist and his artist wife, their work, their love for each other and their busy lives. The Dalarna Museum, located in the center of Falun, showcases the best of Dalarna in the form of traditional Dalarna paintings, folk costumes, collections of Dalarna horses and much more. Falun is also a year-round sports venue, with opportunities for hiking, biking and skiing through varied landscapes. The ski museum offers a history of skiing, with a unique presentation of the history of the Falun Ski World Cup and incomparable views. Lake Runn, between Falun and Borlänge, is an excellent place to learn to sail or paddle a kayak. In summer, it offers numerous opportunities for boating and swimming, while in winter, cross-country skiing and long-distance skating trails are laid out on the lake's ice. Falun is therefore a versatile tourist destination, offering a combination of cultural heritage, outdoor sports and natural beauty.
