HAGAKYRKAN (HAGA CHURCH)
Built in Old Haga, between 1856 and 1859, this church was first an appendix to the cathedral before it became the church of the district in 1883. The Gothic style of the building owes much to the dominant English taste of the time. The original design was designed by the English Society for Church Building, before being modified by the architect of the building, a.-W. Edelsvärd, to which the city also owes its central station. The funding was provided by David Carnegie, a rich English industrialist from the time established in Gothenburg. Inside the church, restored in 1970, one can admire in particular the stained glass windows created by the artist Albert Eldh and, around the chair, wooden sculptures depicting Jesus and the four evangelists. In the baptistery, six ceramic paintings were presented on the theme «by water towards the Redemption», made in 1983 by Ulla Asklund Ellegård.
