An excellent address in Dublin. This chic restaurant (which has had a Michelin star for many years) has been tastefully fitted out in a Georgian building. Exposed stone walls, intimate setting, sober and refined décor; it is possible to dine in one of the private rooms or to settle down at the "Chef's Table", a surprising place which lends itself to the tasting of the 4 course menu. Finnish chef Mickael Viljanen's menu changes with the seasons, but the pleasure remains. Finally, the wine cellar is impressive.

Well worth its 2 stars. Declan was our waiter and he was top notch. Friendly without being too forward. The food was as you would expect - amazing. Not cheap but we came away having had a wonderful experience

As always an incredible experience! Mickael Viljanen is a food genius ???? & his team are fantastic. My husband & I travel to Dublin just to eat at Chapter One & it never disappoints.

The food itself was excellent - creative, well-balanced, artistically presented, and delicious. The scallop tartare canapé in particular was an absolute triumph of taste and elegance.

We had the full menu with the recommended premium pairings by the glass, and the sommelier was knowledgeable, charming, and most importantly accurate on pairings.

However, service elsewhere was a real disappointment at this level of dining. It was a rocky start when our server seemed unaware of dietary restrictions that had been confirmed by phone twice (including proactively 30min before arrival). From there the service was functional but bland, with no charm or personality, very little engagement and really fell flat for any fine dining experience. As an example, the maître fromager (who was delightful) was the first staff member to ask any questions of us or the occasion. Unfortunately, the service also ended on a flat note when the staff rummaged around to find coats while we waited in a busy hallway.

In general the service had the feel of having undertrained staff on the front line, or perhaps have been understaffed on the day. It's a shame to have service let down otherwise excellent work from the kitchen, but this was not the experience that was expected at this pedigree.
