Lovely décor in a colourful setting in a basement restaurant (la cave). There is a separate Chinese restaurant upstairs. In La Cave there a number of options: wine and tapas on high stools near the small bar; or a sit down meal. Best value is the lunch special menu for about 20 euro from Monday to Saturday. Best value on Sunday is the early bird menu between 4 and 6pm. Evening à la carte menu is more expensive. Great service from two very helpful ladies. Food was tasty and good options available. Great selection of wines. Tables are quite close, but the restaurant was not too busy at the time. A fine meal and a very pleasant experience. No complaints. La Cave also offers wine and cheese tasting evenings. It is also a recognised training facility for wine connaisseurs.

Basically we were a party of six. We had 2 starters. Shared by 3 people. 6 mains and a couple of bottles of cheap bubbly (prossecco). And 1 bottle of red wine with Coca-Cola. Basically came to €70 per person for a under cooked fish dinner and a glass of plonk. Toilets/Toilet. Filty. Total bill came to €420.

I've been coming here for a long time, one of my favourites in the city.

Wore my cap the whole time incase Gordon Ramsay and his film crew walked in between the bread course and the french “onion” soup.

The only thing that stopped me walking out was the fact that the stairs are so tight, and I had to drink so much wine to be able to eat the food, I was scared I’d fall down.

Frozen veg from a bag. French onion soup without any onions. Empty room on the busiest weekend in Dublin. Skids on the napkins. Looking forward to McDonalds after.

Wine list was good, but from the 60s.

Stood outside for 10minutes after as I felt obliged to steer people away.

I went to La Cave last night for a low-key hen/bachelorette dinner with two of my close friends. The ambience and décor were lovely, with beautiful bookshelves and a classy, older clientele. However, the experience was completely ruined by a young male server who was aggressively, shockingly rude to me and my two girlfriends. The other server/barman was nice to us but this was not enough to compensate for the appalling behaviour of our main server. It was easily the worst service I have ever experienced in my life - and on a night meant to be special for me and my friends. He was just so incredibly rude I felt humiliated and embarrassed just being in the restaurant. Luckily we had good experiences after our dinner at La Cave, but I will never set foot in there again. I still can’t believe how badly we were treated in a supposedly classy, upscale restaurant/wine bar.

Had a fantastic lunch in La Cave. I ate French onion soup to start and beef bourguignon special as my main. Lovely, quality ingredients and everything was served well.

I drank Campari & Orange and an amaretto coffee to finish. Lovely staff and great service.

The restaurant is tight, tables are very close, I think it’s perfect for 4 people. Romantic authentic French theme and it works well.

Extensive wine selection - served by the glass, carafe, and bottle. Menu has plenty of options to suit many requirements.

Called at 2 pm for a booking later the same night, since I would arrive a little after 22:00 they said dinner would be unavailable but I could come for wine and cheeseboard since the place closes at 1 am.

I arrived and was denied service by a woman saying they were preparing to close, I told her I called early and explained the situation, she was dismissive and told me to disregard what the lunch time person informed me.

Quite disappointed as I made plans ahead of time and was looking forward to taste the wines and cheeseboard. Kindly change the business hours so people know what to expect…
I won’t be coming back.

Had a brilliant wine tasting experience here recently (have done a few different ones here over many years) and followed by a tasty dinner downstairs. Both food, wine and commentary were excellent - I can only recommend!

I made a reservation at La Cave in Dublin a week prior, but despite the availability of free tables, we were disappointed to be seated at the worst table—cramped in a corner uncomfortably close to a lively group of senior citizens. The noise made conversation challenging, and our attempts to talk to each other on our date night were drowned out. Thank god we weren’t celebrating anything, Unfortunately, we left without trying the food, feeling let down by the overall experience and the subpar seating arrangement. I would advise the restaurant reconsidering this particular table in the restaurant.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Dublin. The wine selection is amazing and all budgets are catered for. The food is well portioned and really fresh. Lovely modern take on French classics. We come every year for our anniversary and last night didn’t disappoint. Recommend the lamb & duck.

Have been going here for years and just love it. Great value and fabulous food. I love that it is so cozy and hasn't changed a bit. The wine selection is amazing, something for all palates. Love it.

Nice cosy location, especially if 1st floor. The food is nothing special if one's into bistro food. Onion soup was bland and had soggy consistency. Nice sauce to duck, yet the duck itself lacked dynamism or distinct flavour. Great attentive, yet unobtrusive service.

Quirky little wine bar with buckets of character. Great music, lovely staff and a really cool atmosphere!

Wow! Really enjoyed the simple but professional preparation of my meal: French onion, sea bass, and passion fruit sorbet. Small intimate space with attention to the proper details. Whoever is in the kitchen did a great job of using quality food that was cooked just right.

Excellent. We did love the food and drinks. We adore the place. Service is quick friendly and polite.
Only issue is that we (only a couple) were placed to sit on the top floor in the middle of what looked like a party of 2 massive tables. Very noisy. We could barely talk.
We appreciate the waiter noticing this and apologize at the end of the evening.
Only a gentle feedback.
Thank you. We will be there again.
