The Summit is as its name indicates at the Howth summit, just opposite the bus terminal 31. This pub, in the family since 1950, reminds a little of the restaurants found on the slopes in the mountain. The terrace is open by all the time, and winter a good fireplace fire warms the atmosphere. On Saturday evening, the management organises jazz or rock concerts. The house also offers starters and dishes at reasonable prices. A good place to take a break in the hiking and make a pool, watch a game of hurling or start his favorite music on the jukeboxes.

Visited here today for lunch and the food was just average. The chicken wings were pretty tasty and my husband enjoyed his scampi, but the chips were very undercooked so I couldn’t eat most of them. I let the staff know but they didn’t seem to care, and they were still on the bill at the end. We live locally and won’t be back.

This is a pub, not a hotel! We called in the afternoon for a late lunch. The service was good and friendly and the drinks were fine. However, the food was just awful! The fish was not fresh and was a greyish colour, the batter was crisp but was a dark brown colour rather than golden! The chips were half cooked and the 'mushy peas' was a small ramekin of green liquid! Really, if you can't do decent fish and chips in Howth you have a problem!
