This pleasant address adds to the long list of the oldest pubs in the Irish capital. It's not the oldest, but it still has its original Victorian layout - with its famous wooden partitioned nooks and crannies - and mahogany doors with stained glass windows, which gives it a certain charm. The carpeted staircase leads up to a warm room that has felt like home since its inception in 1803. And you suddenly understand how the pub can be so much a part of Irish life.
