SAINT JOHN'S LANE CHURCH
Gothic-style church with statues sculpted by James Pearse and beautiful stained-glass windows depicting the life of Saint Augustine.
Saint John's Lane Church is a Gothic style church that was built between 1862 and 1895. On the front of the church, the statues of the apostles were sculpted by James Pearse, the father of the Pearse brothers, who were executed during the 1916 uprising. There are beautiful stained glass windows depicting the life of St. Augustine. Unfortunately, this site loses some of its authenticity because of its commercial or at least touristy atmosphere. Moreover, the surrounding neighborhood contrasts with the age of the building.
