SAINT MICHAN'S CHURCH
Founded in 1095, this church boasts fine woodwork and an organ dating from 1724, on which Handel is said to have composed
This church was originally built by the Danes in 1095. They named it after one of their saints. It was completely rebuilt around 1686. These are the only remains of the Viking era north of the Liffey. While the facade of the church is not very interesting, the interior is worth a visit. One will notice beautiful woodwork and an organ dating from 1724 on which Handel would have composed The Messiah. According to some, Bram Stoker, the father of Dracula, found inspiration in this church.
