LEINSTER HOUSE
Georgian house, Dublin's most important, a site steeped in history located opposite the superb Merrion Square, well worth a visit.
This is the most important Georgian house in Dublin. Leinster House was built in 1745 by Richard Cassels for the Earl of Kildare, then Duke of Leinster, just opposite the beautiful Merrion Square. It was then the seat of the Royal Dublin Society before becoming, since 1922, the seat of the Parliament of the Irish Free State, then that of the Republic of Ireland. A memorial was built in honor of Arthur Griffith, Kevin O'Higgins and Michael Collins, all three founders of the independent state of Ireland.
