OSCAR WILDE HOUSE
This Georgian-style house, where Oscar Wilde lived from 1855 to 1876, hosts exhibitions and cultural events.
The famous writer Oscar Wilde lived in this house from 1855 to 1876. It is one of the first houses built (in 1762) in the north of Merrion Square, in an obviously Georgian style. The American College of Dublin has been housed here since 1994 as part of a project to refurbish the building, with a first floor open for exhibitions and cultural events. It is also an academic centre of Trinity College. It is a pity that guided tours are so rare, we often only have the opportunity to see the house from the outside.
