EPIC THE IRISH EMIGRATION MUSEUM
A heart-warming, entertaining and interactive tour of 21 underground galleries, brought to life on giant screens.
Located in the new, must-see and fast-changing Docklands area (not far from the Great Famine Memorial), this museum about the Irish diaspora is one of our favourites in the Irish capital. Opened in May 2016, it is housed in a vast building built between 1817 and 1820, a former tobacco, tea and spirits warehouse, called the CHQ Building. And this museum is one of the few in the world with a fully digitized exhibition.
On the program, a touching, playful and interactive visit through 21 underground galleries and animated by giant screens. In short, a unique setting for a very realistic dive into Irish culture, from the history of the pubs to that of music, via the Great Famine, dance, sport, art and, above all, the (often) terrible migrations that led the Irish diaspora to other countries, notably to Boston in the United States... You will also be surprised to discover the Irish origins of certain well-known personalities... But we'll leave you with the privilege of discovering them! Another original initiative of the EPIC museum : the passport to take home, which must be stamped in each of the rooms visited. Admission is not free, but more than a simple visit, it's an experience that's really worth it! Allow two hours (without getting bored) to visit for this unique immersion in Irish culture. A visit not to be missed!
