HA'PENNY BRIDGE
A remarkable bridge to visit in Dublin, built in 1816, it is the oldest crosswalk over the Liffey.
Built in 1816, this bridge is the oldest crosswalk in Dublin over the River Liffey. It was originally called Wellington Bridge, but was nicknamed "Ha'penny" because of thehalf-penny fee that was charged for crossing it until 1919. Before the Millennium Bridge was built in 2000, it was the only pedestrian bridge in the city. This wrought iron bridge attracts musicians as well as romantics and, for the anecdote, it is on this bridge that U2 realized a famous series of photos at its beginning.
