ROYAL HIBERNIAN ACADEMY
A superb exhibition center and one of the Irish capital's most prestigious modern and contemporary art galleries.
Founded in 1823, the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) is a superb exhibition centre and one of Dublin's most prestigious galleries for modern and contemporary art. The building has five galleries. Famous at the beginning of the 20th century for its visual art exhibitions, the Hibernian Academy was labelled reactionary in the 1950s and 1960s because of its rejection of contemporary art. Since then, this place has regained its dynamism by reconciling tradition and modernism through various exhibitions (painters, photographers, video artists, visual artists...).
