Museum recounting the history of Dublin in Viking and medieval times, with a reconstruction of a Viking ship and various artifacts.

Located right next to Christ Church Cathedral, this museum tells the history of Dublin in Viking and medieval times.

Thanks to very successful audio-visual aids, the Viking world exhibition is a great success. And it is deserved! You can see mannequins in costumes, the reconstruction of a Viking ship, the habits and customs are told with simplicity and enthusiasm. You can also try on Viking clothes, visit a Viking house and even... become a slave!

On the second floor, we move into the medieval era. Life-size models, reconstructions of streets and houses, and interactive educational exhibits (some of which are commented in French) allow you to imagine the daily life of Dubliners at that time. Fairs and medieval games complete this rich picture.

On the top floor, you can see a collection of objects unearthed in the vicinity of Wood Quay, following research by Irish historians. The techniques used here are very detailed and absolutely fascinating.

The visit ends at the top of Saint Michael's Tower (built in the 17th century), from where the panoramic view of the city and the Liffey is breathtaking - you will still have to climb the 96 steps! Informative and fun, the visit to Dublinia is sure to delight the whole family. Not to be missed!

Tip for visiting. A sky bridge links Dublinia to Christ Church Cathedral. The perfect opportunity to group these two visits without losing time. And to take advantage of a combined ticket at a special price.

Interesting museum on the history of the presence of the Vikings, medieval and archaeological being held in Dublin, in a beautiful building next to the Christchurch church. Also fun museum for children with lots of reproduction of characters and activities such as drawings to be engraved on paper charcoal. If you are really passionate about these themes, do not hesitate to go there. Anticipate approximately 2:00 minimum for the visit. A map is provided with information on the various floors of the museum also in French. The written explanations are in English but those oral (electronics), the French language can be chosen.
If you want to visit the church of Christchurch, we do not have to choose this choice, it takes a few extra euros, € 14 in total if my memories are good.
