JFK MEMORIAL
Life-size bronze sculpture of John Fitzgerald Kennedy along the New Ross waterfront, worth a visit.
The Kennedy family is closely linked to New Ross, as the ancestors of former US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy were among the Irish emigrants of the 19th century. JFK visited New Ross in 1963, and in 2008 a statue of him was erected along the docks. His speech remains engraved in its entirety on a plaque next to this life-size bronze sculpture. Before emigrating to Boston in 1848, his great-grandfather lived in a house in New Ross that is now a museum dedicated to the Kennedy family.
