CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL
Neoclassical Georgian cathedral, home to the tomb of James Rice, in the heart of Waterford.
Built in 1773 on the site of an 11th century Viking church in the heart of the city, this neoclassical Georgian cathedral was designed by the architect John Roberts. He is also responsible for many other Georgian buildings in Waterford. Inside, the tomb of James Rice, mayor of Waterford who died in the 15th century, represents a body in an advanced state of decomposition. Concerts are also held regularly in the cathedral throughout the year. Find out more.
