ST CARTHAGE'S CATHEDRAL
Anglican cathedral with stained glass by Burne-Jones and the superb and remarkable McGrath's tomb, to be visited in Lismore.
St. Carthage's Anglican Cathedral in Lismore (1633) contains several interesting pieces. Just to the left of the entrance is the stained glass window by Burne-Jones. Then, at the back of the nave, you can see McGrath's tomb, which dates from 1486. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful tombs of that period in Ireland, because of its richly decorated stele. There are also small carved stone plaques dating from the 9th and 11th centuries, depicting former members of the University of Lismore.
