ST ANNE'S CHURCH & SHANDON BELLS
A remarkable church with a superb view over Cork, ringing its bells is one of the city's most famous attractions.
Ringing the bells of St Anne's Church is one of Cork's most famous attractions. The church is easily identified by its salmon-shaped weather vane. The interior, which dates from the 18th century, is of little interest. The bell tower, on the other hand, is quite unusual. Built of different stones, it seems to rise quite high, an impression due to the mound that supports it. One climbs it to play the bells, but also to go through the strange mechanism of the clock.
